IBM AS400
The IBM AS400 had a strong heritage of best-in-class technology, however IBM continued to lose market share in the server category in part due to an overly "rational" versus a more "emotional" approach. The strategic platform of "Extreme Business" was developed from research that showed the IBM AS400 was indeed an extreme business solution and was, in fact, being used by some of the more successful new and extreme businesses like Patagonia,The North Face, and Rossignol.
Extreme activation included business conference with rock climbing wall and extreme "hummer" transportation, trade show, web-cast, and future feeder programs.
